Graphically for its time it was impressive and the visual style and presentation has really stood the test of time and perhaps even improved with age. They finally got everything just about perfect in this game. Blood Money still stands up against any of the games that followed it despite now being over a decade old.

This was arguably the series peak before the polarizing B movie style of Absolution and the episodic but brilliant Hitman 2017. Graphically for its I would personally put this game in a list of top 10 games of all time. I would personally put this game in a list of top 10 games of all time. I sincerely hope the new Hitman game can even come close to capturing the fun to be had here. Even now, having played through more than once, I find myself wanting to go back to try to screw around and finish the missions in new ways or perfect my old plans. It's got a dark, noiry style without the grindhouse cheese of Absolution, taking itself seriously even while it lets you do ridiculous things. It's not just a question of stealth versus frontal assault, it's poison versus bomb, sniper rifle versus falling chandelier, rigged fireworks versus chloroformed panties. It's relatively easy to beat the game, but the fun comes from experimenting and figuring out just the many, many ways of finishing each mission, and working towards perfection in your final rating. I beat the game a week ago and after some reflection, this is one of the best games I've ever played. It all looks realistic and cool as hell, it really immersed me in the experience the way good design should. a shady South American winery, a posh ski mansion, a decadent skyscraper party, and well, any more might be a spoiler. You go do your dubious deeds in so many cool places.

I loved the ambiance and level design, along with the gameplay they were my favorite part. The story is somewhat weak and plodding, but it's not awful and I didn't find myself skipping any cut scenes. That was really the only real blemish I could find in this game. you do get more money but money is not very useful in this game. The rewards for a very stealthy "silent assassin" performance are mostly that you feel like a badass. Sure if you go around guns blazing you'll generally fail, but you can shoot your way out of a messy ending in a lot of levels and not suffer much. Unfortunately the game doesn't strongly encourage super-stealthy play. This is definitely a thinking person's game, especially if you resist the urge to check a walkthrough. The gameplay is so deep, you can (and are usually encouraged to) spend a ton of time wandering the levels noticing tiny little things you can exploit to accomplish your objectives stealthily. I suppose you can beat most levels with guns blazing but the real fun is in sneaking your way through and killing your targets without anyone noticing. The gameplay is classic stealth, with an emphasis on stealth. not in an earworm way, but in terms of how it fits the mood of the game. The graphics looked extremely clean for a game this old, the music is incredible. I suppose you I didn't play this game the first time around, but I was blown away by it in 2015 (running the vanilla game, not sure if there are many mods/improvements).
